05 June 2018

CEMEX Philippines' CEO and president, Ignacio Mijares has renewed the cement company's commitment to support the economic growth of Cebu and the country's infrastructure-building program during his visit and courtesy call to provincial governor Hilario Perez Davide III.

In their meeting, Mijares discussed with Davide the ongoing plans of CEMEX Philippines in Cebu and the country in line with the company's philosophy of serving as a partner in nation-building.

CEMEX continues to invest in its cement plants, namely APO Cement in the City of Naga, Cebu and Solid Cement in Antipolo City, Rizal to meet the expected increase in the demand for building materials for the Build, Build, Build infrastructure projects of the government, which include airports, seaports, railways, roads and bridges.

CEMEX also supports the government in achieving sustainable development. This is exercised through the implementation of numerous corporate social responsibility initiatives to preserve a balanced ecology and uplift communities around the Philippines. The CSR efforts of CEMEX in Cebu include the recent construction of a health center in Barangay Tina-an, Naga City, the conduct of skills and livelihood programs under the Amoma Naga Community Development Program as well as the greening and mine rehabilitation efforts in various areas of the province.

CEMEX also provided housing for employees and underserved community members in cooperation with Gawad Kalinga and periodically holds the Experto Ako! Skills Training Program for masons in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to help community members upgrade their technical construction and entrepreneurial skills.
