CEMEX Philippines receives several citations at 10th City of Naga Charter Day

Cement manufacturer CEMEX Philippines was recently cited by the City Government of Naga in Cebu for the company’s strong support to various health initiatives of the city and its commitment to being a good corporate neighbour in the community.

Apo Cement Corporation, a subsidiary of CEMEX Philippines that operates in the City of Naga, received the recognition awards during the 10th Charter Day Anniversary of the city. CEMEX was recognized for its contributions in the local government’s Doktor sa Barangay Program, an initiative that deploys doctors to villages on a weekly basis.

The company was also awarded for helping in the operation and sustainability of the Vicente Mendiola Center for Health (VMCH) which is the city’s one-stop facility that caters to the basic health and medical needs of Nagahanons. VMCH houses the medical laboratory and diagnostic center, dialysis, and lying-in and infirmary clinic among other facilities.

Meanwhile, to help provide for the basic hygiene needs of children, CEMEX continuously supports the City Dental Office’s “Isang Milyong Sipilyo” Program wherein the company has been a staunch advocate since 1998. The program coincides with the National Oral Health Month when dental kits are distributed to children during a series of activities. To date, CEMEX has already donated over 50,000 dental hygiene kits in public elementary schools across Naga.

The company also received a plaque of appreciation for being a diligent taxpayer and a consistently compliant business.

The awards were given during the Stakeholders and Partners Night of the City Government of Naga as part of the week-long celebration of its 10th Charter Day anniversary. Atty. Kristine Chiong, Mayor of Naga City, conferred the awards to Ignacio Mijares, President of CEMEX Philippines.
