CEMEX stages a grand celebration of Mexican culture and thanksgiving

20 Jun 2019

Global building solutions leader CEMEX Holdings Philippines recently held a celebration of culture in observance of Mexico’s Cinco de Mayo festivities which also served as a grand thanksgiving event for its customers and employees.

The colorful fiesta, held at the Grand Ballroom of Fairmont Hotel in Makati City, highlighted the Mexican lineage, rich heritage and tradition of excellence of CEMEX Philippines. The event was complete with entertainment done the Mexican way – with traditional dances, games, song performances, garb, and delectable dishes.

As a customer-centric company, the thanksgiving celebration reaffirmed CEMEX’s commitment to consistently deliver quality and value for stakeholders, and recognize outstanding employees for their contributions to the nation-building goals of the company.

“Cinco de Mayo is an opportunity for us to celebrate the past, acknowledge where we are now, and plan how we aim to build the future through innovations that could only be possible through collaboration,” said Chito Maniago, Director for Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at CEMEX Philippines and Executive Director of CEMEX Philippines Foundation, Inc.

Loyalty Awards were given to long-standing customers and CEMEX Go Awards were received by customers who fully embraced the digital transformation brought about by the integrated digital services platform which was launched last year. CEMEX Go allows customers to contact CEMEX anytime, anywhere using their mobile devices and provides full visibility and transparency of transactions through its features.

Meanwhile, Service Awards and the One Step Further Awards were given to exceptional employees as testament to the company’s recognition and appreciation for their years of dedication and hard work.

CEMEX Philippines’ Cinco de Mayo Fiesta: A Celebration of Cultures was concluded with a celebratory toast led by His Excellency Gerardo Lozano Arredondo, Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines, who reiterated how the Philippines and Mexico enjoy strong friendship. Also joining CEMEX’s officials in the country was Chef Jose Carlos Redon, a multi-awarded and celebrated culinary expert from Mexico who is known for showcasing the ancient techniques in Mexican gastronomy.

For more than a hundred years, CEMEX continues to promote growth, innovation, and sustainability in over 50 countries worldwide. CEMEX was established in the Philippines in 1997 and is currently operating two of the biggest cement plants in the country – Solid Cement Corporation in Rizal and Apo Cement Corp. in Cebu. The company has a total yearly capacity of 5.7 million metric tons which will have an additional 1.5 million metric tons with the construction of its new cement line in Antipolo, Rizal.
