CEMEX: Helping build communities amidst COVID-19
As the country continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, CEMEX Philippines continues supporting, helping, and building communities. Through the CEMEX Philippines Foundation and the Social Development & Management Program (SDMP), the cement company enabled 10,000 families and 3,000 health workers across 30 different barangays to be equipped with essential items worth a total of P3M throughout the duration of the quarantine. As of writing, 200 isolation suits (PPEs) and 500 face shields have been given to the Rizal LGU, and 400 more isolation suits and 1000 more face shields have been turned over to Cebu LGU, which has seen an increasing rate of COVID-19 incidence recently.
CEMEX has also previously donated relief items to Cebu and Rizal, with their own personnel delivering the goods in an act of volunteerism. Community residents in the aforementioned areas have received sacks of rice grains, vitamin C capsules, canned goods, and even provision for drinking water; personal hygiene effects like hand soaps, ethyl alcohol, and sanitizing products have also been donated to healthcare centers in the locality. Likewise, CEMEX provided manpower support to ramp up the disinfection efforts of the local governments to help stop the further spread of COVID-19.
CEMEX has a rich history of improving the welfare of communities through innovative building solutions, efficiency advancements, and sustainability efforts. Extending efforts to further assist them during a pandemic stays in line with CEMEX Philippines Foundation’s thrust to help Build a Safe and Healthy Citizenry and Build Communities.
CEMEX subsidiaries Apo Cement Corporation in Cebu and Solid Cement Corporation in Rizal produce and market a broad product mix of building solutions.
