CEMEX is one with the nation in fighting COVID-19
As the whole nation continues to face global pandemic COVID-19, more and more organizations are lending a helping hand to the communities who need it the most, to help see the whole country through.
CEMEX Philippines, through the CEMEX Philippines Foundation, was one of the companies that extended its support to various barangays and affected communities in the provinces of Rizal and Cebu by providing much-needed relief items.
With the assistance of local government units of Antipolo City and City of Naga, Cebu and the provincial governments of Rizal and Cebu, a total of 600 50 kg sacks of rice grains, hundreds of canned goods, hand soaps and sanitizing products were distributed to some 30 different barangays. Additionally, nearly 27,500 capsules of Vitamin C and 135 gallons of ethyl alcohol were donated in support of the frontliners in the said localities. The company also covered truck rentals for the delivery of the relief goods and donations.
In addition, CEMEX provided manpower support to ramp up the disinfection efforts of the local governments to help stop the further spread of COVID-19. In Cebu, sanitation tents, which were inspired from the open-source modular Sunnytation Tent design originally by Cebu-based architects Evolve PH Communities, GSG Architects Co., and Siteline DBS, were set up to produce a disinfectant mist fit for public use. Key barangays in the City of Naga: Langtad, Inayagan, Uling, and Naga Public Market all benefitted from this.
Building the Nation Together
CEMEX Philippines Foundation’s advocacy of Building the Nation Together by upholding support for better education, better environment, and better livelihood in communities has always aimed to promote community welfare and sustainability. In keeping with this advocacy, the decision to empower and uplift the communities was a step forward into a familiar direction.
“We’ve seen how the people in these communities value unity and oneness, and CEMEX has been privileged to bear witness to and benefit from that. We’re eager to be able to give back to those communities in order to keep them together,” said Ariel Yson, CEMEX community relations officer in Rizal. “They are vital to the bigger picture of our country, so by helping the residents and frontliners during this pandemic, we’re confident we’re helping the nation fight against this, too,” added Fulgencio Ubay, community relations officer in Cebu.
CEMEX has a rich history of improving the welfare of those it serves through innovative building solutions, efficiency advancements, and efforts to promote a sustainable future in more than 50 countries worldwide.
